Oxford American "Southern Music Issue"

(oxfordamerican.org) Once again the Southern Music issue was brilliant this year, with the magazine covering everything from Professor Longhair's tenure to Zydeco hip hop to authenticity, the corresponding CD providing a thrilling soundtrack. But to be honest, two issues later they visited a ventriloquist convention and I have not been able to get that crazy piece out of my head. It wasn't even a flawless article, the writer had some imbalance of the personal and reporting at times, but I'll be goddamned if I was not genuinely haunted. I am now convinced that some day I will either become a full time ventriloquist or will be murdered by a dummy.
